Contemporary echocardiographic assessment of atrial appendages in non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

Yaroslav M. Lohvinov, MD, PhD, is currently Assistant Professor at the Functional Diagnostics Department at the National P.L. Shupyk Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Kyiv, Ukraine, and Consultant Cardiologist at the Institute of Heart, Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine. In 2014 Doctor Lohvinov defended his PhD evaluating the structure and function of atria and their appendages in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. He has prepared more than 20 papers on the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation and reported the results of his research at the European Congress of Cardiology in 2013 and 2014. He has participated in several clinical trials in the area of atrial fibrillation.
